We are a small ethically run individual business selling unique hand crafted fairtrade products, offering you stylish gifts sourced from third world countries. Our purpose is to raise awareness of fairly traded, beautifully crafted gifts and jewellery. People are still unaware of the principles of Fair Trade, not realising that each time you buy something fairly traded you are helping someone, somewhere, not as fortunate as yourself.
abantu prides itselves in bringing you the very best in ethical shopping for birthdays, anniversaries and those special occassions, or just to simply say thank you.
abantu is nestled in the country village of Bourn in converted stables next door to a coffee shop. We believe in helping people gain their independence through fair wage and giving hope to underprivellaged communities. We believe that providing sustainable livihoods by increased employee wages and generating new jobs is the fair way forward.
abantu encourages you to linger, feeling free to browse the exquisite hand crafted apparell from all over the world.
abantu offers you a fabulous range different, indivually crafted gifts, homewares and toiletries. Offering designer jewellery, all handmade and unique. Something for everyone. Buying fairly traded gifts and jewellery in a way that properly values the contribution of the craftsperson is important. Often people who make these fabulous pieces are based in poor situations in developing countries, with their skills passed onto them for generations. They only receive a fraction of the eventual purchase price with the difference soaked up by dealers and passed on to you, the consumer. Fair Trade is the partnership between the producer and you.
abantu's promise is to do our outmost to bring you the best handmade products available. We try hard to ensure that each gift is handmade, unique and profoundly different to other's in the market place. Inspired by Africa, we bring these lovely crafts into our mainstream, ensuring that the designs fit into todays modern homes. Sizes, shapes and colours, all varying, as they are mostly made from natural materials.
